Navigating Towards a Future Free from Child Marriage: Uniting Efforts and Empowering Youth for Lasting Change

Choosing when and whom to marry is one of life’s most important decisions. Child marriage not only denies hundreds of girls this choice but also robs them of their childhood, education and sometimes leaves them with life-threatening conditions.

Data from Ghana’s 2018 Multiple Cluster Indicator shows some progress has been made toward ending child marriage. However, with just seven years to meet the SDG goal to eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early, and forced marriage, additional effort is required to accelerate progress. In this special report, GBC’s Antoinette Abbah explores child marriage interventions and the necessary steps to achieve this goal.
